Amboseli National Park, situated immediately north-west of Mount Kilimanjaro on the Tanzanian border, is Kenya’s second most popular tourist destination after the Masai Mara.
The Park is 392 square kilometers in size and is part of a 3,000-square-kilometer destination ecosystem with a combination of plains, acacia forest, rock thorn bush, swamps, and marshes. Furthermore, this park is renowned for its huge concentration of elephants as well as a great view of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest and most majestic standing peak.
The Big Five, spectacular scenery and other wildlife include African Buffalo, Impala, Cheetah, Maasai Giraffe, Hyenas, Tigers, Fringe Oryx, Wildebeest, and other African species. Amboseli is also home to over 400 different bird species.
The park is most famous for its massive herds of elephants, which are almost a guarantee sighting on any safari.
