TRIP OVERVIEW:

This combined itinerary takes you through the distinct regions of Magical Kenya, allowing you to experience the rich beauty and incredible diversity of East Africa. Your journey begins with an unforgettable wildlife experience across the savannah grasslands and bush country of the Masai Mara National Reserve, where the “Big Five” roam freely.

Next, you will venture into the Great Rift Valley to explore serene freshwater lakes and unique island sanctuaries. To wrap up your adventure, you will enjoy an urban safari through Kenya’s bustling capital city, featuring rich cultural heritage, interactive wildlife encounters, authentic local cuisine, and world-class farm tours.

ITINERARY:

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi & Cultural Exploration

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), you will be met and briefed by a Tembea Africa representative, who will transfer you to your hotel for check-in.

Nairobi, the capital city, is East Africa’s most cosmopolitan hub. It serves as an excellent starting point for safari trips around Kenya. As Africa’s 4th largest city, Nairobi is a vibrant and exciting place boasting a lively café culture, unbridled nightlife, and the famous Nairobi National Park—the world’s only urban game reserve where wild lions and buffalo roam just 20 minutes from the city center.

After a brief rest, depart for an optional visit to the Nairobi National Museum. As a center for national heritage, the museum hosts temporary and permanent galleries detailing Kenya’s landscape, community origins, pre-colonial history, and cultural diversity. It provides a great foundation before embarking on your wild journey. In the evening, return to your hotel or venture out to sample local restaurants and nightlife.

Day 2: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

After an early morning breakfast, check out of your hotel and begin the scenic drive to the world-renowned Masai Mara. You will drive via the Great Rift Valley, stopping at the escarpment viewpoint for breathtaking panorama views of Mount Longonot, Mount Margaret, and Mount Suswa.

Arrive at your safari lodge in time for check-in and lunch. After relaxing, head out in the late afternoon for an exhilarating horseback riding experience across the savannah till dusk.

Lodge Experience: Enjoy an overnight stay at your lodge on a Full Board basis (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included).

Day 3: Full-Day Masai Mara Wildlife Adventure

Awake to the natural sounds of Mara birdlife and set out on an early morning horseback ride. Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast before departing for a full-day game drive across the reserve.

This extended game viewing trip gives you the ultimate opportunity to encounter the Big Five alongside zebras, antelopes, warthogs, cheetahs, and topis. Return to the lodge in the early afternoon to relax, or take an optional evening horseback ride, visit a traditional Maasai Village, or embark on a guided nature walk with local trackers.

Day 4: Masai Mara to Lake Naivasha & Crescent Island

Wake up for an optional early morning game drive before breakfast, then check out and drive toward Lake Naivasha. Arrive in time for check-in and lunch at your lakeside hotel.

In the afternoon, enjoy a tranquil boat ride on Lake Naivasha to observe large hippo pods and vibrant birdlife, including pelicans, cormorants, and fish eagles. The boat lands at Crescent Island Game Park—a private sanctuary peninsula where you can enjoy a guided walking safari among gentle grazers like giraffes, wildebeests, and gazelles.

If time permits, you can also explore Hell’s Gate National Park, famous for hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing. Return to the hotel in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Naivasha to Nairobi, Giraffe Centre & Carnivore Dinner

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before checking out and driving back to Nairobi, arriving in the early afternoon.

After checking into your city hotel, head out to the famous Giraffe Centre. Here, you can hand-feed friendly, endangered Rothschild giraffes from an elevated platform and capture unforgettable memories.

In the evening, enjoy a celebrated dining experience at the world-famous Carnivore Restaurant. Known as “The Beast of a Feast,” this meal features an array of succulent meats roasted over charcoal fires. After dinner, return to your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 6: Kenyan Coffee Experience, Souvenir Shopping & Departure

Start your final day with breakfast before embarking on an interactive Kenyan coffee farm tour. Learn about the complete journey of Kenya’s “black gold”—from young seedlings and parchment grading to sun-drying on raised beds.

Conclude the farm tour with a delicious three-course buffet lunch at a historic 1928 ballroom, along with an opportunity to purchase fresh estate coffee, homemade jams, honey, and specialty coffee soaps. In the afternoon, visit the vibrant Maasai Market for hand-crafted souvenir shopping before transferring to JKIA for your evening flight home.
