TRIP OVERVIEW:

This combined Kenya tour takes you through the distinct regions of Magical Kenya, experiencing its rich beauty and biological diversity. Your journey begins with an unforgettable encounter with the legendary “Big Five”—lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard—across the vast savannah grasslands of the Masai Mara. Next, you will relax under swaying palm trees on white sands, dipping your feet into the warm turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean at Diani Beach. The trip also features an engaging urban safari, complete with a city tour of Kenya’s capital and exciting cultural activities in Nairobi.

ITINERARY:

Day 1: Arrival in Vibrant Nairobi

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), you will be met and briefed by a Tembea Africa representative before transferring to your hotel.

Situated along the Nairobi River, the capital city serves as the cosmopolitan hub of East Africa and the perfect starting point for African safaris. Although famous for its fast-paced urban culture, Nairobi features unique attractions—most notably, the world’s only urban game reserve located just 20 minutes from the city center, where wild lions and buffalo roam freely.

Day 2: Nairobi City Excursion & Cultural Highlights
After a leisurely breakfast, depart for a full-day city excursion.

Bead Making Workshop: Craft your own custom jewelry piece alongside skilled artisans during a 2-hour interactive tour.

Giraffe Centre: Hand-feed endangered Rothschild giraffes from an elevated walkway and learn about conservation efforts.

Nairobi National Museum: Enjoy lunch en route before exploring temporary and permanent galleries detailing Kenya’s landscape, pre-colonial history, and rich cultural heritage.

Return to your hotel for an evening of rest before your safari begins.

Day 3: Journey to the Legendary Masai Mara
Checkout after breakfast and board your 4×4 safari Land Cruiser bound for the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Drive through the Great Rift Valley, stopping at the Mai Mahiu viewpoint to admire sweeping panoramic views of Mount Longonot, Mount Margaret, and Mount Suswa.

Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. Following a brief afternoon rest, set off on your first game drive until dusk.

Day 4: Full-Day Wildlife & Cultural Immersion
Awake to the natural morning melodies of the Mara’s birdlife. Today features an extensive game drive across the reserve alongside an immersive visit to a traditional Maasai village. Meet the local community, learn about their ancient customs, and gain deep insight into the Maasai way of life.

Day 5: Spectacular Hot Air Balloon Safari
04:45 AM: Early pickup from your lodge and transfer to the launch site.

06:00 AM: Enjoy fresh Kenyan tea or coffee while watching the balloons inflate and listening to a safety briefing.

06:30 AM: Board the basket for a breathtaking 1-hour flight over the Mara plains as the sun rises.

Upon landing, celebrate with traditional champagne followed by a full English breakfast served right in the bush. Receive your flight certificate before enjoying a game drive back to the lodge by 10:30 AM. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and reflecting on the views.

Day 6: Fly from the Mara to Diani Beach
After an early breakfast, check out and drive back to Nairobi, arriving at Wilson Airport for your 14:00 flight to the South Coast. Touch down in Diani at 15:15 and transfer to your coastal resort. Spend your afternoon swimming in the pool or taking your first stroll along the soft, white sand beaches.

Day 7: Coastal Swahili Cultural & Culinary Experienc
Spend the morning relaxing on the beach or taking a dip in the warm Indian Ocean. Around midday, participate in a full Swahili cultural experience. Learn to prepare authentic local cuisine alongside coastal chefs and sample your delicious creations. Return to the hotel to spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 8: Marine Adventures at Kisite-Mpunguti & History at Shimoni
Depart early for Shimoni Jetty (07:30) and board a traditional wooden dhow into the Wasini Channel.

Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park: Snorkel among coral reefs, swim with wild dolphins, and discover colorful marine life.

Shimoni Slave Caves: After returning to the jetty, tour these historic coral caves used to hold enslaved people prior to shipment in the early 18th century—a sobering and educational experience.

Return to your hotel for a peaceful evening by the sea.

Day 9: Return to Nairobi & Departure

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before checking out and transferring to the airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi. Arrive in the early afternoon for free time or last-minute souvenir shopping before your transfer to JKIA for your international flight home. Kwaheri!
