ITINERARY:

Day 1: Welcome to Nairobi

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be warmly met and briefed by a representative from Tembea Africa Tours & Travel. You will then be transferred to your Nairobi hotel for a restful overnight stay.

Situated along the Nairobi River, Kenya’s capital city is East Africa’s most cosmopolitan hub and serves as the perfect launchpad for wild African safaris. While tourist visits are often brief, Nairobi boasts a vibrant cafe culture, exciting nightlife, the National Museum, the Karen Blixen Museum, and Nairobi National Park—the world’s only urban game reserve situated just 20 minutes from the city center.

Day 2: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

Your driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel at 0730hrs. After a brief orientation, you depart on a scenic drive south toward the 151-square-mile (392 sq km) Amboseli National Park, situated near the border of Tanzania.

Arrive at your lodge in time for a delicious lunch and afternoon relaxation. Later in the evening, embark on your first game drive across the reserve. Observe the majestic African elephants for which Amboseli is famous as they gather around seasonal swamps against the magnificent backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 3: Full Day Exploring Amboseli National Park

Spend a full day discovering Amboseli, widely celebrated as the home of the African elephant. The park features a rich biodiversity across open plains, acacia woodlands, and marshy wetlands fed by subterranean melting snows from Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Amboseli hosts four of the famous Big Five—lions, leopards, elephants, and buffaloes—alongside Maasai giraffes, spotted hyenas, fringe-eared oryx, and over 400 species of birds. It is a photographer’s absolute paradise, offering stunning visual backdrop vistas of Mt. Kilimanjaro throughout the day.

Day 4: Amboseli to Tsavo West National Park

Wake early for a morning game drive before breakfast. Afterwards, depart Amboseli heading south toward the vast wilderness of Tsavo West National Park, enjoying game viewing en route.

Arrive in good time for lunch and check-in at the world-famous Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge, located within the adjacent Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. Elevated on stilts over natural waterholes, this legendary lodge offers unparalleled close-range wildlife photo opportunities. Spend your afternoon on a game drive exploring Taita Hills, home to cape buffaloes, lions, zebras, leopards, and over 300 bird species.

Day 5: Tsavo West National Park & Mzima Springs

Dedicate a full day to exploring the rugged beauty of Tsavo West National Park, covering over 9,000 square kilometers of rolling plains, volcanic lava flows, and acacia scrublands.

A major highlight of the day is visiting Mzima Springs, a stunning oasis fed by an underground aquifer beneath the Chyulu Hills. Here, crystal-clear pools allow you to observe hippos, Nile crocodiles, and freshwater turtles in their natural habitat from an underwater glass viewing chamber. Tsavo West is also famous for its historical man-eating lion legacy, expansive elephant herds, and dedicated rhino sanctuary.

Day 6: Taita Sanctuary to Nairobi & Departure

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before checking out of your lodge. Take a final game drive en route to the local airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Nairobi. Upon arrival at Wilson Airport, a guide will transfer you to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your international flight back home.
