Just 10 kilometre from the city center and only 117 sq. km in size, Nairobi National Park is Kenya’s oldest park, established around 1946 and the only protected area in world with a variety of animals and birds close to a capital city.
The park is a principal attraction for visitors to Nairobi and it is one of the most successful of Kenya’s rhino sanctuaries that is already generating a stock for reintroduction in the species former range and other upcoming sanctuaries. Due to this success, visitor can be certain of seeing a black rhino in its natural habitat. Other wildlife that can be experienced at this park include: zebra, giraffe, buffalo, ostrich, gazelle, eland, hippo, vulture and lion.
