Gorilla Trekking, Uganda
Of the few thousand Mountain gorillas that remain on earth, over half of them live in the dense montane forest of Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga National Park. This rare and threatened species occupies the deeper parts of the forest and needs to be habituated to human presence before a limited amount amount of viewing can take place.
Small supervised groups of visitors have the opportunity of climbing through the dense forests to view these primates in their natural surroundings. Mountain gorillas live in small groups led by a dominant male and are generally non-aggressive, preferring retreat to attack although they will fight when cornered.
