Experience Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda
Queen Elizabeth National Park located in the far west of Uganda is bounded to the north by Rwenzori Mountains, to the west by Lake Edward and the border of with The Democratic Republic of the Congo, and to the east by western rift valley escarpment.
The varied landscape of this park offers diverse habitats ranging from the moist semi-deciduous forest of Maramagambo, to the rolling grasslands of the crater area and the low-lying swamps bordering Lake George and Lake Edward. The famous Kazinga Channel connects Lake George and Lake Edward and effectively diides the park into two distinct sections. A launch trip along the Kazinga Channel is an experience not to be missed and will provide a unique opportunity for game viewing. It is home to numerous species of wildlife, including elephant, buffalo, Uganda kob, waterbuck and warthog. Lion and leopard can also occasionally be seen. Well worth exploring is the area to the north-east of Lake Edward – an extraordinary landscape of craters and salt lakes created by volcanic activity some 8000 to 10000 years ago.
