Experience Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, Uganda
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is blanketed as one of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests, which dates back over 25,000 years. The park lies lies in southwestern Uganda on the edge of the Rift Valley and contain a mist-covered hillsides.
There are over 400 species of plants at this park as well as an estimated number of 400 mountain gorillas (roughly half of the world’s population). Mubare gorilla group at Buhoma was the first to be habituated for tourism in Bwindi in April 1993 and to date, the park as about fifteen groups that have been habituated for tourism and can be tracked from four trailheads. Moreover, the park offers some of the best tourists experiences other than Gorilla trekking such as; Forest trails that lead to scenic waterfalls as well as the perfect view of the Great Rift Valley as you walk through the local villages that provide insights into the lives of the Batwa (Pygmy) and Bakiga people living beside the forest. The park is also one of Uganda’s top bird watching destinations with many Albertine Rift endemics present, notably in the high, draughty Ruhija sector.
