Experience Nairobi National Park, Kenya
Nairobi National Park is a principal attraction for visitors to Nairobi and it is the crown jewel of Kenya’s conservation drive. The park lies just 10 kilometre from the city center and only 117 sq. km in size. It is oldest park, established around 1946 and the only protected area in world with a variety of animals and birds close to a capital city.
With an oasis of lion-gold plains, acacia-fringed rivers, leopard-stalked cliffs, plunging gorges and murky hippo pools, this versatile park hosts its own wildebeest migration and is the only place on earth where you can find black rhino grazing against the silhouettes of office blocks and skyscrapers o the city of Nairobi. Some of the optional activities that can be experience at this park include: impala observation point that lies a few minutes from the main gate and offers a stone-built rondavel with panoramic views and a picnic area. Another experience that is very close to the park is the ivory burning site: where the late former president of Kenya Daniel Arap Moi set fire to 12 tons of ivory in a bid to eliminate the mass slaughter of Africa’s elephant in 1989 and finally the Nairobi safari walk that is situated just before and to the right hand of the park ‘s main gate. It offers the rare chance of viewing different animals behaving as they would in their natural habitat as you walk through raised timbered boardwalks for an informative walk and an enjoyable outing.
